Heal & Evolve: Weekly Journal Inspirations - Week 3: Overcome Obstacles

Hello Everyone! Welcome back! Let's jump right into it :)

Last week, we just let our hearts out, being totally vulnerable, raw, honest, and authentic about things that hold us back. After hashing out everything, you probably saw a huge gap between your dream and where you stand today. While the gap seems insurmountable and the dream may seem impossible, we can do this. YES, absolutely. We just need to be open and receptive to the limitless possibilities that life can bring us.

Look back to your last journal entry and read through your list of obstacles again. If you haven't written using last week's journal prompt, click here for the prompt. You may notice a few items from the list that stick out like a sore thumb. As you look at them, you might feel like they are a recurring theme in your life that stifles you from moving forward, achieving something greater, or allowing you to pursue a life filled with happiness freely.

So, here is this week's journal topic:

Pick up to five items from the list of obstacles you made last week that speaks to you the most in this moment. Look at each item and imagine this: after a long healing journey, you have overcome all five obstacles. What kind of person have you become? List all the qualities you can think of.

Don't dwell too much on how they can be overcome. Focus on the person that you became when you defeated those five limitations. For example, you might feel that you lack adequate financial means to start your passion project because that would require you to quit your current job. Imagine someone who has already started a passion project. What kind of person can overcome financial limitations and pursue one's passion and dream? This person is probably very resourceful, creative in finding solutions, patient, courageous, tenacious, and resilient.

After that, think of practices that would help you cultivate those qualities. Let's set an intent to become that person, and see what we can do to embody these qualities. Being resourceful might mean being curious and learning something new every day. To cultivate patience, meditation might help. To be courageous, you might want to heal your fears. Healthy physical exercise might help build tenaciousness and resiliency. I think you got the idea. :D

This exercise bridges the gap between where you are and where you want to be. You may not get to your dream tomorrow, but by setting the intent to become the person who has overcome the limitations you currently have, you will invite your dreams into your life. Eventually, your dream becomes just another logical next step in your life. When that day comes, look back to this journal entry. You will see the long road that you have traveled.

Happy journaling,

Noriko
